Born June 29th 1959 (Saint Paul's day)
I first used a Kenwood TS520 with a vertical antenna from Hustler (4BTV). Over the years, I gradually upgraded the station through a Kenwood TS930, then a TS950S, which I still use as a back-up rig. I now operate a Yaesu FT1000MP for my greatest satisfaction. Antenna wise, I have used a 2-element 3-band cubical quad for 20 years, and just put up a replacement for it with a Lightning Bolts 2-element 5-band quad, at 35ft up in the air. I have used some dipoles for low bands (80-40-30) and really never had an antenna for 160 (the garden is really small where I live now). The countries I have worked on this band have been contacted from some local friends' stations on the occasion of various contests. (Sorry, pictures are not ready yet...)
The DXpedition virus got me quite early in my ham career, in fact on the second year of being licensed. The blame can be put on F6CUK who invited me to join his second expedition to Saint Barthelemy island in 1978. Along with us were F6BLK, F6BKI and F1TE. Please refer to my activities page to see how deep the virus got into me... And I hope this bug will not leave me alone too soon !
